Queen Mum Tea

SHE's the Millennium Mum. Queen Elizabeth, mother of our reigning monarch Elizabeth II, turned 100 last Friday and the world celebrated in style. In West Vancouver, on the lawn beside the Ferry Building Gallery, the North Shore Heritage Committee held a Queen Mum Tea in honour of the occasion. Tickets were by donation and all proceeds raised go to the committee. According to committee members, "hundreds and hundreds" of dollars were raised. A big thanks to local artist Elizabeth Smily for donating her portrait of the Queen Mum and to Murchie's for supplying the tea. Happy Birthday.

Committee president Carolanne Reynolds and husband George Pajari are always a good laugh. They were all dressed-up for the occasion.

"I can't even imagine what it would be like," said 16-year-old Julia Harwood (centre) as she chatted with artist Unity Bainbridge (left) and Olive Bell.
