Fireworks

THE HSBC PowerSmart Celebration of Light once again lit up the night skies over English Bay to the delight of hundreds of thousands of people. And while the show can be seen from as far away as West Vancouver, the best seats in town are probably the ones on the rooftop deck at the English Bay Boathouse restaurant. Reserved especially for VIPs, judges, sponsors and their guests, these tables don't come cheap. Last Wednesday, it was Spain's turn to take centre stage and they did not disappoint. It was the perfect way to end a fabulous four course dinner reception that had everyone toasting the occasion in style.

Escorting the judges safely down to their seats after dinner were RCMP members Al Lawson (left) and Owen "Rusty" Rusticus.

"Spirit of Vancouver" campaign leader Carole Taylor and her husband, former Vancouver Mayor Art Philips, had great seats near the railing.
