WV Youth Band

THE West Vancouver Youth Band first started way back in 1930, yes that's over 70 years ago. It's a tradition that keeps getting stronger every year thanks to all the great members and volunteers that keep things running. Last Saturday was the 7th Annual Dinner and Dance at the Squamish Nation Rec Centre. Performances by the junior, senior and adult bands kept everyone dancing throughout the night. There was a special presentation made to West Vancouver mayor Ron Wood in recognition of the funds that were raised and donated to the band from the last Mayor's dinner. It was a great night of family fun for all.

	Band master Doug Macauley is a talented leader who deserves lots of applause. He and his students are very impressive.
	Chanel Cairns (left) came out to see her brother perform while Jessica Vogt came out to support her sister.
	"They're wonderful," raved guests Alan and Shirley Mulvenna who couldn't resist a dance or two.
	Terry and Jill Jensen are big supporters of the kids and all the bands.

	He's the seafood king of Lonsdale Quay. Ronaye and Kosta Zogaris, of The Salmon Shop and Screaming Mimi's, enjoyed the music together.
	Pretty 11-year-old Mellina Zogaris stayed up late to see her friend on stage.
	Band board member Cathy Zullo couldn't resist a fun hug from husband Andy.
