Bob Rebagliati Retirement at Handsworth

May 15, 2004

By Catherine Barr

It's hard to wrap up in one paragraph the impact teacher Bob "Reb" Rebagliati has had on this community. The much-loved Handsworth music teacher and musician's career has spanned four decades, influenced thousands of students and created countless lasting friendships. His upcoming June retirement spurred a series of parties last weekend including a special Friday night concert at Capilano College - his last concert - followed on Saturday by a toast and roast at Handsworth school. Familiar faces, friends and family were on hand to salute the music man himself and ensure Reb went out on a high note.

Catherine Barr, Vancouver's celebrity events reporter and photographer, is supported online by CLR Communications Ltd.

Vancouver's best events and celebrity functions are all archived here. Vancouver pubs, clubs, nightclubs, gala events and fundraisers are included. Thanks for viewing.

Due to server capacity, you will not be able to access or click through to the larger photographs. With over 250,000 unique visits each month, our site would quickly exceed the amount of memory needed.

If you would like to receive a copy of a photograph, then please send an email and enclose the details of the event, the date, the name, the photo number and the names of the people in the photograph. Also, for security reasons, I prefer not to email copies of pictures to anyone other than the people who are actually in the photo. Thanks.

Bob "Reb" Rebagliati started teaching back in 1971. Seen here with wife Maggie, he's been at Handsworth since 1976 and inspiring students ever since. He will be dearly missed.

Former students Bonnie Statham (left) and Wendy Brown were taught by Reb back at Hamilton Jr. High. Seen here with former French teacher Michel Leveille, it was a true night of memories.

They're with the band, literally. Band parents and part-time stage manager Stan Eby and wife Gill wouldn't miss this for the world.
