OKAY, so while my fellow writers are busy venting their spleens, I thought it prudent to take a look back at some of the things that happened this past year. Some of them weren't great, others were pretty cool and some are still waiting to happen. So, without further ado, I give you the good, the bad and the ugly - the year in review.

DSCF0001 THE UGLY - Canadian icon Wayne Gretzky sells out to Ford Motor Company running a 99 day payment plan on television commercials.

DSCF0002 THE UGLY - Whether you like Gordon Campbell or not, politics in this backwards B.C. climate never seem to make anyone smile.

DSCF0004 THE GOOD - Former Olympian Charmain Crooks, seen here with husband Anders Thorsen, is among those trying to bring the Olympics here to Vancouver in 2010.

DSCF0012a THE BAD - Stuart Ballantyne (centre) and his Molson Indy race have lost a few famous faces to another circuit. That means no more Ashley Judd or Dario Franchitti at Indy gala time.

THE BEST - Former freestyle skier Jim Milina became the first quadriplegic to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro. He's receiving the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Commemorative Medal on Jan. 4 for setting the record, but he won't be able to attend the ceremony. He and fiance Corine Gailloux are being married that same day.

PICT0020 THE BAD - Vancouver's loss is Montreal's gain. Fashion mogul Serge Jean-Laviolette, seen here with his favourite models, has headed east.
