Alegria Opening Night

July 10, 2003

By Catherine Barr

I never used to like the circus much (I HATE animal acts), but thankfully Quebec based Cirque du Soleil changed all that. "Alegria", the latest, greatest show on earth, opened in spectacular style on July 10 at the Grand Chapiteau at Concord Pacific Place. The VIP "Tapis Rouge Experience" was only the start to a great night that culminated in the after-party of all parties complete with fire dancers, 300+ drummers, ice sculptures and champagne for everyone.

Wow, what costumes. Parading around the Tapis Rouge VIP lounge were characters from the Alegria experience.
