Looking back at 2003, there were many events that caught our attention. Big names or local heros, here's a salute to some of the more colourful characters who not only entertained us, but gave this town something to talk about.

Cirque du Soleil's "Alegria" featured fabulous costumes, talented performers and NO animal acts - two thumbs up for this summer sensation.

Stinkmitt rappers Jenni Craige (left) and Betti Forde cranked it up on stage for A Loving Spoonful last spring as part of the Purple Onion's Karma cabaret.

A SARS scare in Toronto allowed actors Nicole Robert and local boy Jay Schramek to ham it up here in Vancouver during the summer run of the ABBA hit filled "Mama Mia".

The Wet Spots, one of Vancouver's best XXX comedy/musical duos, tied the knot this year. Look for John Woods and Cass King to keep things cooking next year as well.

Supporting AIDS benefits throughout the year were Shooting Stars chairman Roger Millen and performer Many Kamp.
