Comedy, Bingo and Barbeque

July 6, 2003

By Catherine Barr

Bingo isn't just for little old church ladies anymore according to the organizers of the Vancouver International Comedy Festival. Last Sunday, at Granville Island's Performance Works, the meat was grillin' and the beer was chillin' as festival volunteers held a Comedy, Bingo and Barbeque fundraiser. Local Vancouver comedians called out the winning numbers and kept the laughs coming. The festival itself takes place later this month from Jul 24 - Aug 4. Details at www.comedyfest.com

Silly costumes and smiles are almost always a prerequisite for any comedy festival volunteer, just ask Tonya Smith (left), Trevor Broad and Lili Hao.

Under the "B" for "bonkers". Comedian bingo caller Graham Clark gave audience members a mouthful. Catch him at Commercial Drive's El Cocal every Wedneday.
