I am a handbag fanatic, so when friend Drew Savage, radio morning man from the new 95 Crave FM, told me about their company's upcoming designer purse party and giveaway, I just knew I had to get a handle on things. The Guilty Pleasures Party was held at Yaletown's Opus hotel and featured big name bags from Holt Renfrew filled with concert tickets, gift certificates and more. Lucky winners walked away in style, looking good and shaking their bling thing. Meanwhile, no one was gonna rain on Cadillac Fairview's parade at the HSBC Building's Pendulum Gallery where the first annual Big Brolly Gala took place last week. A full-size live jazz band, featuring Juno award-winner Gabriel Mark Hasselbach, played as guests wined and dined among black bumbershoots with a goal of raising over $45,000 for three local, not-for-profit charities that are working to support homelessness and mental illness.
