The third annual B.C. Restaurant Hall of Fame awards were given out last Monday at the Vancouver Convention Centre. The event honours excellence in several categories, including Front of House, Back of House, Active Restaurateur, Friend of the Industry, and Pioneer in the Industry. In addition, this year, The Lifetime Achievement Inductee was Bing Smith of Vitality Foodservices Canada Inc. The awards represent recognition of restauranteurs and food service industry pros from their peers. Th banquet included a black tie reception, a $200 five-course dinner (prepared by Chef Blair Rasmussen) and a very entertaining awards ceremony.
Luncheon ladies gathered at Capilano Golf and Country Club on April 19th for a very special fundraising event. The first annual "Spring into Spring" fashion show benefitting the Zajac Ranch for Children featured fashions from Lynda Hipp, Jacqueline Conoir and Catherine Regehrl. The Zajac Ranch for Children is the only camp of its type in Western Canada - it opens its doors to all agencies serving children with life threatening, chronic illnesses or physical disabilities.
