Richard Dean Anderson and Friends

The Molson Indy 2000 was dedicated to the memory of Greg Moore, the local hero who made it big in racing circles only to die in a horrible racing accident earlier that year.

The annual Indy Gala was held at Gotham's restaurant in Vancouver and a lot of the drivers and celebs always attended. But it was Richard Dean Anderson (of television's MacGyver and Stargate fame) that really stole the show by purchasing one of Greg's racing helmets at auction for $57,000.

Later on he and Greg's father, Ric Moore, had a quiet, personal chat. "I'm honored" said Anderson as Ric Moore thanked him for the donation. Drivers Jimmy Vasser and Dario Franchitti, close friends of Greg's, were also impressed with the gesture. It was really a great moment.
