North Vancouver 50 Year Reunion - Catherine Barr

IMAGINE, it's fifty years ago. Patty Page, Pery Como and Tony Bennett are playing on the malt shop jukebox. Milton "Uncle Miltie" Burle is just starting out on TV. A cool new car would cost you around $2,000 and a new house around $15,000. Still, you had to work hard because the average income was about $3,000. North Vancouver teens were gathering at Wilkies and the Lions Gate was still a brand new shiny toll bridge. Ah, how things have changed. But for the gang at North Vancouver High School, 50 years has just flown by. Their 50 year reunion was held on June 2nd and 3rd and wow, what a group. So many stories, so much to tell. And while the school itself was torn down in 1979, former principal Mickey McDougall's name remains on the gymnasium that now stands in its place. Check out the smiles of these very young at heart high school grads.

They ensured that the lessons were learned. North Van High teachers Bob Robinson taught math and physical education while teacher Daisy Gee was in charge of English, Latin and the library.
