Capilano Rugby

YOU often think of rugby players as all rough and tumble, which means you probably wouldn't have recognized many of them last Friday, Oct. 26 as they donned their best suits and dresses (yes, women play rugby too) for Capilano Rugby's 2nd Annual Gala Dinner Dance. Hollyburn Country Club was the venue as organizers put on another successful fund raiser for the club and its activities. There were lots of prizes and silent auction items, a great meal and more. Close to 120 guests attended at what is sure to be an ongoing tradition. Congratulations gang.

It takes a lot of work to put one of these events together. Just ask treasurer Andrew Gilbert and his wife Joan, who coordinated many of the auction prizes.

The club's past president, Mark Slay, is keeping busy these days. He is now the president-elect of the BC Rugby Union.
