Hose and Reel Kids

PICTURE a kind of Olympic games for firefighters and you'll get a good idea of what it's like at the Hose and Reel festival. It's a popular annual event that attracts hundreds of participants and their families. Held this year on May 12 at Mahon Park, the big boys from fire stations all around the lower mainland came to compete in the field events as the crowds cheered them on. But the day is also popular for the kids as there is entertainment, magic shows, singing, dancing, face painting, food and fun.
