WV Seniors Centre Morning

THE West Vancouver Seniors Centre is a veritable beehive of activity all year round. Whether it's arts and crafts, fitness or social events, you can pretty much find what you want here. Now they tell me you've got to be over 60 to join, but take it from me, these folks are about as youthful in mind, spirit and body as you can get. In fact, it's so much fun down there, I keep trying to sneak into an event or two. Last Thursday morning I checked out a few classes and found out just how much talent and fellowship exists within these walls.

Strachan Birnie lined up a crucial billiards shot which he pocketed, making it look so easy.

Dick Garrett, seen here with photographic artist Barb Bartholomew, was working on a magnificent stallion in the woodworking shop.

Carving a special niche in the world were woodworkers Don Webster (from left), Frank van Crasbeek and Peter Morley.

Win Farnworth (left) has been coming to the centre for five years now, while Lindsay Laws claims to be a 15 year member.

Ken Sinclair's skilled hands create some of the most delicate wildlife wood carvings around.

They're the pros in the know. Carving artists Ken McClelland (clockwise from left), Ralph Van Nes, Bill Friend and Bert Skinner are so talented they could practically open their own gallery.

I hear that some of the best lunches in town can be found in this cafeteria. Volunteers like Barbara Bouch (left) and Amelia Sequiera are happy to serve.

Believe it or not, but 20 year member Fred Titcomb (left) just signed up for his first class ever. Sketching instructor Jim Gladden was happy to have him on board.

Artistic talent runs deep in Grace Bellamy's family. Grace's daughter Cindy just happens to be one of the News' very best photographers.
