Hopscotch

Nov 14, 2003

By Catherine Barr

Behold - the water of life. Scotch and beer drinkers, young and old, descended upon the Empire Landmark Hotel in Vancouver for "Hopscotch" the annual whiskey tasting event that attracts all kinds of North Shore faces. Just you wait and see who was toasting the occasion with a "wee dram". Proceeds to the Alzheimer Society of BC.

Great Scot - North Van boys Bill Diamond (left), Donald Paton, Sirius Computer's David Head and First Appliance's Carlos Monteiro sure know their whiskies.

Pouring some rare breeds of the golden elixir were Peter Mielzynski Agencies' Chris Brown and North Shore rep Rosemary McLaren.

Making the trip from the shore were Bradbrooke Crawford Green's Christopher Doll (left) and Legg Mason's director Dave Mason.

A wee toast among friends was what it was all about. Just ask North Van's Jeff Fawcett (left), Tommy's Restaurant's Rick Slowski and Tim Quarles.

Who says scotch and beer are just for the boys? Michelle Addison (left), Andy Hartshorne and Nicole Tolmie tried both.

North Van's Gordon Barrett signals to his BC Regiment, Duke of Connaught's Own pipers, proving that the Irish version of the bagpipe is just as entertaining.

Taking a turn at the pipes himself was the always affable and multi-talented Bill Diamond.
