Lions Gate Hospital Chemotherapy Clinic Opening

Jan 24, 2003

By Catherine Barr

Jan 24th was a landmark day for North Van's Lions Gate Hospital. Thanks to the generosity of the late Hossein Daneshvar Tehrani and the contributions of more than 1,500 other individuals and community groups, the hospital now has itself a newly expanded, life-saving, chemotherapy clinic. The evening reception event included speeches from local dignitaries who welcomed supporters, physicians and guests. The clinic will hold a donors' open house and tour again on Feb 14 from 1-5 pm.

Vancouver's best events and celebrity functions are all archived here. Vancouver pubs, clubs, nightclubs, gala events and fundraisers are included. Thanks for viewing.

Due to server capacity, you will not be able to access or click through to the larger photographs. With over 250,000 unique visits each month, our site would quickly exceed the amount of memory needed.

If you would like to receive a copy of a photograph, then please send an email and enclose the details of the event, the date, the name, the photo number and the names of the people in the photograph. Also, for security reasons, I prefer not to email copies of pictures to anyone other than the people who are actually in the photo. Thanks.

Special gifts director Diana Charlton (centre) was surrounded by family members and supporters whom she helped recruit as volunteers for the evening. From left: Jennifer Sinclair, Rayan Charlton (front) and Hazel Charlton.
Board member Graham Thody and wife Elaine shared a smile and shared in the celebrations.
Dr. Brent Brown (left) was happy to chat with Val and Max Wieczorek who are both courageous cancer survivors.
Dr. Norman Hamilton (left), was seen with Helena Klimo and Dr. Paul Klimo who is a driving force behind the newly expanded clinic.
SFU professor Som Somjee attended the opening with Geeeta Somjee (left) and sister-in-law Consuelo.
