First Step Actors Softball at North Van's Kilmer Park

Jul 9, 2005

By Catherine Barr

Local actor and former Shaw tv host Russell Porter and his partner Sarah Coulter know what its like to be a young actor starting out. That's why their First Step Actors Studio is so popular with kids and adults alike. Here, everybody gets a chance to train for the big leagues and learn the skills necessary to land that big leading role. Last Saturday, the classes headed to the baseball diamond at North Van's Kilmer Park for a little intramural softball and BBQ get together in support of their many programs.

Catherine Barr, Vancouver's celebrity events reporter and photographer, is supported online by CLR Communications Ltd.

Vancouver's best events and celebrity functions are all archived here. Vancouver pubs, clubs, nightclubs, gala events and fundraisers are included. Thanks for viewing.

Due to server capacity, you will not be able to access or click through to the larger photographs. With over 250,000 unique visits each month, our site would quickly exceed the amount of memory needed.

If you would like to receive a copy of a photograph, then please send an email and enclose the details of the event, the date, the name, the photo number and the names of the people in the photograph. Also, for security reasons, I prefer not to email copies of pictures to anyone other than the people who are actually in the photo. Thanks.

Taking a break between innings were students Mason Fouks (left), Jeremy Kulyk, Martin Hallat, Matt Drake and Emma Leonard.
Going in for the catch and the perfect action shot were Chris Olson (back) and Matthew McInnis.
Look for the he dynamic brother/sister duo of Krystal and Ryan Vrba to hit the big screen soon.
A little love, a little comedy. Learning all the tricks of the trade are scene study partners Sabrina de los Rios (left), Brendan Taylor, Kristi McNicholl and Chenier Hundal.
Guitar player Kevan Schell (front left) provided some music for ball players Amanda Robinson, youth instructor Adam Nason and Kenton MacDonald-Lin (front).
Holding up the winning trophy, First Step Actors' own Sarah Coulter and Russell Porter provide the brains and the brawn behind the operation.
