Vata Brasil Vancouver Activewear Store Opening

Jan 19, 2006

By Catherine Barr

It was time to party South American style at last week's opening of Vata Brasil - a new active wear clothing store that sports fashions designed "by athletes, for athletes". A festive atmosphere greeted guests as they browsed the store's stylish Richards Street location and met with several of the female athlete/designers that were there modeling the latest greatest women's gear for this year.

Vancouver's best events and celebrity functions are all archived here. Vancouver pubs, clubs, nightclubs, gala events and fundraisers are included. Thanks for viewing.

Due to server capacity, you will not be able to access or click through to the larger photographs. With over 250,000 unique visits each month, our site would quickly exceed the amount of memory needed.

If you would like to receive a copy of a photograph, then please send an email and enclose the details of the event, the date, the name, the photo number and the names of the people in the photograph. Also, for security reasons, I prefer not to email copies of pictures to anyone other than the people who are actually in the photo. Thanks.

Figure fitness model/competitor and North Van gal Connie Gallo struck a pose near the entrance.
Store owner Mario Gomes relied on athletes, like his wife - Canadian Freediving Champion Ananda Escudero Gomes, to help him design the clothing line.
Modeling the gear they helped design were kickboxer Julia Budd (left), fitness competitor Tracy Fruin and World Freediver Champion Mandy Rae-Cruickshank.
