Nov 10, 2003

The Pacific Northwest Oyster Shucking Championship took place this Monday night at Joe Fortes restaurant as part of the "Slurp and Swirl - A Wine and Oyster Celebration" fundraiser for Hope House and the Arthritis Research Centre of Canada. Guests were given a map to travel around the restaurant and visit different tasting stations as Oyster shucking pros battled it out at centre stage for the title.

Back to back competition? Not really, but Fortes shuckers Mike Morris (left) and Isaac Martin Del Campo kept guests slurping off the half shell.

Root for the home team. Joe Fortes champion shucker Bob Skinner had fellow baseball team member Marnie Hogan as his personal fan.

Let's face it, oyster schuckers have raw sex appeal. Jason Allan from Rodney's oyster bar posted a first round time of 3 min. 57 sec.
