Quench - the Wine Experience

Jun 25, 2004

By Catherine Barr

It's called "the wine experience" for good reason. Last Friday, at Commercial Drive's Croatian Cultural Centre, the second annual Quench event took place in support of Hope House. Much more than a tasting, this night also included wine tips, a "Cougar Lounge", food and sexy-hip DJ music. They should all be this much fun.

Catherine Barr, Vancouver's celebrity events reporter and photographer, is supported online by CLR Communications Ltd.

Vancouver's best events and celebrity functions are all archived here. Vancouver pubs, clubs, nightclubs, gala events and fundraisers are included. Thanks for viewing.

Due to server capacity, you will not be able to access or click through to the larger photographs. With over 250,000 unique visits each month, our site would quickly exceed the amount of memory needed.

If you would like to receive a copy of a photograph, then please send an email and enclose the details of the event, the date, the name, the photo number and the names of the people in the photograph. Also, for security reasons, I prefer not to email copies of pictures to anyone other than the people who are actually in the photo. Thanks.

"Urban Rush" director Mike Keeping and Megamouth Media's Barb Snelgrove sipped and swirled.
Granville Entertainment and The Cellar's Christine Van was busy mixing delicious ice wine martinis.
"Have a Glass" authors James Nevison (left) and Kenji Hodgson represent the new, hip approach to wine drinking.
Using stuffed puppy dogs to emphasize "the nose" of the wine, Hawthorn vineyards' Juanita Mirehouse and Ian McKay were all smiles.
Using wasabi peas and pickled ginger, Kim Crawford wine rep Kelly Smith showed off the qualities of a dry riesling and a pink pansy wine designed specifically to appeal to the gay population.
Groove Catalyst's Tyson Villeneuve (left) and Ian McInnes, who put together the "Cougar Lounge", posed for pics with guests Jessica Reese and Lindsay Murray.
Groove Catalyst DJ R.C. Lair kept the groove going.
