River Rock Disco Ball, Bodog Gamblers, Joe Fortes' Oysters and Whistler Cornucopia

Nov 17, 2005

By Catherine Barr

It was a record week last week for lots of reasons. The River Rock Casino entered the Guiness Book of World Records with the unveiling of the world's largest disco ball. Then, last Thursday, Joe Fortes "Slurp and Swirl" and 20th Anniversary party challenged fellow oyster shuckers to beat each others records. Quay restaurant owner Calvin Ayre is hoping to break some records with his new risque Bodog web commercials, which he previewed last Wednesday at his "Moulin Rouge" party. And finally, Bearfoot Bistro owner Andre St. Jacques shattered records with his last ever "Masquerave" party at Whistler's Cornucopia where some 2,000 revelers took the trip north for some fun.

Vancouver's best events and celebrity functions are all archived here. Vancouver pubs, clubs, nightclubs, gala events and fundraisers are included. Thanks for viewing.

Due to server capacity, you will not be able to access or click through to the larger photographs. With over 250,000 unique visits each month, our site would quickly exceed the amount of memory needed.

If you would like to receive a copy of a photograph, then please send an email and enclose the details of the event, the date, the name, the photo number and the names of the people in the photograph. Also, for security reasons, I prefer not to email copies of pictures to anyone other than the people who are actually in the photo. Thanks.

Bearfoot Bistro's Andre St. Jacques, seen here with one of his painted ladies, was literally ringmaster of his own circus with over 2,000 guests attending his "Masquerave" in Whistler.
In celebration of its 10th and last year ever, Andre St. Jacques' "Masquerave" party featured live music, free flowing champagne and over 60 body painted models.
Bodog/Quay Restaurant owner Calvin Ayre was tickled pink thanks to Fawn Labrie and the many ladies in attendance at his Moulin Rouge commercial preview party.

River Rock Casino's Alex Lee (left) and Kelly Phelan helped unveil the worlds' largest disco ball which measures 33 ft. in circumference and weighs about 1,800 lbs.
