Vancouver Grey Cup Weekend 2005

Nov 27, 2005

By Catherine Barr

The "Party on the Pacific" was the theme of this year's Grey Cup 2005. There were hospitality suites, street celebrations, gala dinners and the Saturday morning parade featuring BC's own blonde bombshell Pamela Anderson and Governor General, Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaelle Jean. The Player's Awards were held at the Centre for Performing Arts and, afterwards, big name faces gathered at the Vancouver Library for the Blake, Cassels and Graydon VIP reception.

Catherine Barr, Vancouver's celebrity events reporter and photographer, is supported online by CLR Communications Ltd.

Vancouver's best events and celebrity functions are all archived here. Vancouver pubs, clubs, nightclubs, gala events and fundraisers are included. Thanks for viewing.

Due to server capacity, you will not be able to access or click through to the larger photographs. With over 250,000 unique visits each month, our site would quickly exceed the amount of memory needed.

If you would like to receive a copy of a photograph, then please send an email and enclose the details of the event, the date, the name, the photo number and the names of the people in the photograph. Also, for security reasons, I prefer not to email copies of pictures to anyone other than the people who are actually in the photo. Thanks.

CTV/TSN sports reporter Farhan Lalji and wife Mary rubbed elbows with the big boys at the VIP reception.
Working hard behind the scenes all week long were Grey Cup volunteers and committee members Wendy Cocchia (left), of Absolute Spas fame, and Andrea Southcott.

BC Lions' Lui Passaglia, seen here with Michelle Nuszdorfser (left) and Nadine Power, won the Most Valuable Canadian in Grey Cup Game (Dick Suderman Trophy) back in 1994 when the Lions won the Grey Cup.

BC Lions' exec Scott Ackles was only too happy to pose with the coveted Grey Cup, named for the 1909 Governor General of Canada, Earl Grey.
Mark Wykolaichuk (left) and former NHL'er Peter Twist, of Twist conditioning, attended the players' reception with other fellow athletes.
BC Lions' GM and head coach Wally Buono led his team to the Grey Cup last year with a Western Division championship, but this year had to watch from the sidelines.
