Sierra Wireless Whistler Cup Sponsor Reception at Lorne and Melita Segal's House

Mar 9, 2006

By Catherine Barr

The Sierra Wireless Whistler Cup may physically be held in Whistler, but its' connection to Vancouver is vital. The three-day cup (held April 7 - 9 for skiers aged 11 - 14) is organized by the Whistler Mountain Ski Club and many volunteers, participants and sponsors live in the Vancouver area. Last week, a special sponsor cocktail reception was held in support of the event. Hosts Lorne and Melita Segal opened their beautiful new 12,000+ sq. ft. luxury home to guests for an evening filled with praise and anticipation for what organizers hope will be a big preview of what to expect from young skiers come Vancouver's 2010 Winter Olympics.

Due to server capacity, you will not be able to access or click through to the larger photographs. With over 250,000 unique visits each month, our site would quickly exceed the amount of memory needed.

If you would like to receive a copy of a photograph, then please send an email and enclose the details of the event, the date, the name, the photo number and the names of the people in the photograph. Also, for security reasons, I prefer not to email copies of pictures to anyone other than the people who are actually in the photo. Thanks.

A toast to the upcoming Olympic athletes was in order for media coordinators Stephanie Vicic (left) and Jenn Laidlaw.
Young K2 skiers Jenny Rea (left) and Chanelle Segal (right) are just two of the up-and-comers event chair John Rea expects to see racing down the hill in the near future.
Vancouver ski moms Heidi Mark (left), Michelle Newton and Colette Oser are all members of the Whistler Mountain Ski Club (WMSC).
Ski mom Marilyn Swette (left) teamed up with sponsor Rob Haywood and guest Joan Blanchard to support new Olympians.
Incoming sponsorship event chair Brent Sawchyn (left) was thrilled to meet one of his skiing heroes - 1980 Olympic bronze medalist and "Crazy Canuck" Steve Podborski.
With selfless generosity, Melita and Lorne Segal hosted the event in their palatial new home which features a spectacular flame and ice fireplace and more.
