They know where all the best restaurants are, where all the movies stars stay and can probably help you get front row tickets to just about any event in town. They are Vancouver’s doormen, and without them, we’d be a city without a face. Last month, at the 18th Annual Doormens Dinner, these ambassadors were honoured for their great service and hard work. Sponsored by Grace McCarthy’s CH.I.L.D (CHildren with Intenstinal and Liver Disorders) foundation, and held at Vancouver’s Four Seasons Hotel, this was one fundraiser where extra baggage was encouraged.

Looking extra glamorous, North Shore ladies Devina Zalesky, left, Lori Rowe and daughter Jennifer Ricci are among those who came out in support.
They know all about giving. Philanthropists Joe and Rosalie Segal, left, join speaker/publisher Peter Legge, of BC Business fame, during the cocktail reception.
West Vancouver’s Marilyn Diligenti-Smith, of Marilyn’s in Caufeild, and son Franco Diligenti help welcome the doormen of Vancouver.
Owner of his own charity organization, Mel Zajac and wife Wendy are among the VIPs in attendance.
Did North Vancouver’s Vanessa and Christian Jarvis take the time to give Premier Gordon Campbell, right, a stock tip or two? Let’s hope so – wink.
Being toasted as the 2008 Honourary Doorman of the Year, VANOC chairman Jack Poole, left, was praised by friends and colleagues like Vancouver 2010 Olympics CEO John Furlong.
The always elegant Grace McCarthy, seen here with CTV-9 Olympics reporter and North Van resident Mike Killeen, continue to spearhead the foundation for Crone’s and liver disease.
