Is it possible that Vancouver news legend Bill Good is just too Good to be true? The CTV / CKNW newsman and talk show superstar has been a hero of mine ever since my university days, so I may be a bit biased. But nonetheless, the man behind the mic was the toast of the town last week as the "A Very GOOD Night" celebrity roast was held in his honour at the Bayshore. Problem is, Bill's a real pro, having learned the business from his father, and just too damn nice of a guy - which means that fellow media personalities and VIP roasters couldn't fall back on the usual bag of barbs and insults. Even politicians, who are never at a loss for words, joined the romp down memory lane to make this a star-studded night to remember - all in honour of a man with so much talk-show savvy and community cachet, that he still leaves them speechless. Congrats Bill - may you ride the airwaves of success for many more years to come. And speaking of success, there's a long list of shout-outs this week to those folks behind several fundraising events. Check out photos of the action at the Chef Meets Grape / BC Wild Salmon event at the Rocky Mountaineer, the Skoah "Paris in the Fall" fundraiser to benefit Hopeful Hand, and the Canuck's Place "Gift of Time" gala reception at Montecristo Jewelers. Grammy award-winning singer/songwriter Sarah McLachlan also grabbed headlines at the Pan Pacific as she raised money for her Sarah McLachlan Music Outreach (An Arts Umbrella Project) which helped wrap up with week on a very "Good" note.
